Child Labor in Guantopolo, Ecuador
Our new educational project in the Indian Communities targets the issue of the immigration of the children to the cities to work and also the issue of child labor in the rural communities. Here are pictures showing the types of labor the children do when they are at home.

The school children and their parents are constructing a bathroom for the school where The FACES Ministry will be providing small educational grants for about 180 children.

All the parents and children are required to work on the construction of a septic tank for the bathroom at the community public school. It was mostly women and children. The men are in the city picking up jobs to so their families will have a cash income.
The girls and women in the Quichua communities work like men do in the American culture.

Another form of child labor ocurrs in the Quichua villages where the children work in the fields. I watched this child work in this barley field all day with his mother.
Our grant emphasizes that the recipieints need to allow the children to put their studies as a priority, rather than their time in the fields.
